Bousfield School SW10 and local private schools

Bousfield is our local state school, and looked great when I went round for a tour; in fact it looked a lot better than many of the local private schools in terms of facilities.

I wondered if anyone had any personal experience of Bousfield and / or any of the local private schools (Falkener House,Thomas's Kensington, Redcliffe School, Knightsbridge SSchool, Glendower, Queensgate?)

Just found this thread as I was searching for Redcliffe School on MN. I went on a tour of the school a while back and know people whose girls attend, so can give you my two cents worth if you are interested Don't know any of the other private schools on your list as I am on the Fulham side.

Firstly, lucky you for having Bousfield as your local school. It has an excellent reputation (as well as the Ofsted outstanding). The catchment area is so small, based on prior years admissions I think we are just outside the area by a couple hundred metres [pulling hair out emoticon]. Have been told there are lots of expat kids attending (especially French).

Redcliffe is a very small school, tiny. I liked the junior school set-up and think it would be fantastic for nursery to year 1. It seems to be a very nuturing environment and they have an excellent reputation for getting the senior girls into their school of choice. Negatives are the limited space they have in the senior school site (playground is tiny, no dedicated music/art/computer rooms as are generally standard in private schools, bussed all over London for sporting activities).

I wonder too if it is a bit of a shock for the girls going from such a tiny school to their senior schools.

What did you think of Bousfield?

Hi Mellin,

Thanks for your thoughts. I was very favourably impressed with Bousfield; light, airy classrooms, loads of artwork in eveidence, good-sized assembly rooms, adequate dining facilities, fantastic outdoor space compared to all other schools around, and the Head seemed sensible.

Only concerns are class sizes, sport and the fact that they obviously don't prep for private senior schools. And we might not get in, if the catchment area shrinks!

I had a look round Redcliffe, and thought that it seemed warm and welcoming, albeit very, very small; recetion. I like the co-ed thing as well.

Which is your local state school, and what other private ones are you looking at?

Our daughter has just started the nursery there, moving on from Kiddi Karru up the road. So far so good - she's really come on and loves it.

Got some lingering concerns about class size and getting into a decent private school later but for now it's great.
