Having worries about moving house and school and effect on DS and DD - can someone help reassure me?

We are probably going to be moving about 160 miles in the next few months. DS currently in Y1, DD is in mixed nursery/reception class and will start reception in September. Both love their school (so do we). Am getting stupidly wobbly about the effect of moving them on their friendships and how they get on at school.

Both seem quite clever - am less worried about DS as I feel more comfortable that child coming into either Y1 or Y2 will be assessed a bit and will have appropriate work. But DD is doing very well and I am worried about her maybe losing enthusiasm especially in things like reading (she is doing a lot of if at the moment) if things go back to basics at the start of reception somewhere else. But don't want to be pushy parent .

So if anyone can reassure me a bit that I won't ruin their lives abd that yes I will manage to find a school we all like for two children that woukd be great .

we moved our 2 children who were just starting yrs 2 and 3 respectively and our other daughter who was about to start reception. all 3 began at the new school September just gone and I can honestly say it was the best thing we ever did!
the old school had a good ofsted etc and our children were doing very well however when we got here they had to do some serious catching up. they are now loving their new friends and school work, the teachers have a whole new approach which is most refreshing and I am very involved as a parent helper (something that has helped with the children settling IMO) although I didn't volunteer at the old school as it wasn't quite so welcoming!
your dc are still at a good age for moving - I think once you start moving older children it is harder but at the age that yours are they will be fine!! the existing children LOVE having new children to meet and play with and will bicker about who sits next to and plays with yours I also made a point of inviting loads of new friends round for tea and have met some lovely mummy friends as a result.
I know its a wobbly time and I remember crying to hubby saying what the hell have we done?! when we exchanged contracts etc but hand on heart, we've never been happier and I mean the children too!!

I am moving in a few weeks and am getting quite emotional about it now. Dd1 is in yr3 and dd2 is in the preschool attached to the school. Feeling a bit wobbly because not even sure we can get dd2 a nursery place at new address.

Anyhow, I am sure your children will be fine. They are still so young. My sister chagned schools at the end of p1 (similar to reception year) and was absolutely fine. I also changed schools alot around that age and don't remember it being an issue when so young.

Loads of new girls have started last year and this year at dd1 school and they all seemed to have settled well and have lots of friends.

Sorry, meant to say that the girls were in yr2 and yr3 when they moved into dd1 school and all have settled well.

Yr 2 and yr 4 children. Moved to a new school last September. Brilliant. Both children taken it in their stride and both now doing really well.

Same situation here! Moving in the summer hols (250 miles). Dd1 in yr1 now, dd2 reception.
I have no qualms about them taking it in their stride - but then I have moved lots of times in my life (and when I was little - RAF then) so i've experianced school changes myself a fair few times. The girls have eachother, and young children make friends so easily.

Have been going through schools where we are moving and lots of them do look lovely . Problem is where we are now is lovely (I volunteer there twice a week and am quite a well known face now). Am telling myself I can keep on volunteering and everything will be fine.

Just need to sell the house and find somewhere else (probably renting at least at first). And a school. It is at least an area DH and I know (met at university there, although schools weren't the first things on our minds then).
