Dc has just gone onto "pea green" banded books after finishing the cream ones; does anyone know how many colour bands are left to go?? thanks.

Thats probably lime after white? In our school that's the last before free (aka library) books.

thanks for the reply houseofboys but dont think so, she read lime back in yr2 and has had several including brown, black, grey and cream as mentioned before this dull green colour; Im hoping she is nearly done then she can take in the books that she reads at home!

I feel your pain - the reading schemes seem endless and the poor kids never get to choose their own reading material - it's an odd way to encourage reading for pleasure. We go from lime to classroom books and then to school library books & a child must read all the school library books, which are colour coded too, before being allowed to bring their own books in sourced from elsewhere. Seems unnessecarily controlling to me.

I'd ask some of the other Mums or the teacher - sounds like your school has their own particular set of rules.
