My dd is in reception & is quite a sensitive soul & has always been quite funny about loud noises. I noticed last week though that she has got much much worse. Before she would just say that she didn't like the noise, now she puts her hands over her ears & puts her face down & won't have eye contact. Whereas before it was sudden noises, noisy toys, hoover, drills, sirens etc now she reacts to traffic, loud music in shops, even in a busy cafe she clamped her hands over her ears saying it was too noisy & hurting her head. She has said on a number of occasions that she finds her classroom too noisy when they are playing & I know it took her ages to get used to the noise in the playground & hall at lunchtime but she seems happy with this now. A few weeks before half term I was called in to collect her from school as she had stomach ache & seemed unwell, when I collected her the classroom was really noisy & she looked very tired & pale. By the time we were walking home however she had perked up & said that she didn't really have tummy ache but it was just too noisy for her. Would you mention this noise problem to the teacher? I haven't yet as although dd is lovely she like most children is quite manipulative & I don't want to be in a position where she is using her dislike of noise as an excuse not to do things.
