why does DD's report under state her abilities so much?

My DH and I were pretty miffed every time his twin DDs got their reports in junior school. Every subject except English/maths had the same sentences in virtually the same order. "C can use percentages" "R has learnt about the water cycle" etc. They'd just been copied and pasted, with the names changed. It told us nothing at all about how the girls were coping with the subjects.

It wouldn't be quite so insulting if one teacher had decided to do this, but they weren't even in the same class!!!

It's a relief to see that not all teachers do this though!

I remember getting 95% in a subject at school - the teacher wrote in my report - satisfactory result - it made me laugh.

The reports we get home on the dcs are of limited use. I admit I took the first few rather too seriously but a few years down the line I have gained some perspective. You don't need the teacher to tell you your child can count, read etc you know that already - they are not there to tell you how fabulous your child is.
