Has anyone ever boycotted SATS?

DD is in year 6 and so is due to do her SATs in a short while. I hate the fact that all they have been doing in class lately is pratice for the SATs.

I hear so many parents talking about how much they disagree with SATs and it just occured to me that nobody can actually make our DC do them if we don't want them to.

So now I am seriously considering keeping DD off school during the tests.

Has anyone else ever done this?

I can only sepak for my own school LJ but sadly they really do spend months teaching to the SATs, I am a TA in the school so have first hand knowledge of it.

DS1's teacher told me yesterday that after half term they would be "getting down to serious hard work" preparing for the SATs..then she reasured DS they would have some fun when the SATS were over.

I think if they are doing all this boringpreparation anyway, they may as well do the test. I've made it clear to DS that they are testing the teacher not him - but have also said he should try to do well in them, or he may be given too easy work at high school.
