early years and wrap around care

DD3 could start at local school next january, part time the term after her third birthday. the school does wrap around care 8-6.

She is currently at day nursery 8-5.30 4 days a week and gets on fine there. I am inclined to leave her there until she can have a proper full time place at school ( the term she turns 5).

Has anyone any experience of this? Will she end up the only 4 year old in nursery- is wrap around plus school more exhausting than nursery?

Our school nursery offers this. The main differences with a day care type nursery are that the day is structured differently - the school nursery is planned round school hours for just nursery age children, and then they do breakfast and after school club with the rest of the school. Whereas a daycare nursery will plan the whole day.

I would guess that the school nursery type set up is more exhausting at first because you have to get used to two different routines and a lot more children. But you also have advantages in terms of the children getting to know older children and becoming more comfortable with the school. At our breakfast/after school club the older ones really look after the nursery children which is lovely (almost a family feel).
