Surbiton High Boys' Prep School anyone?

Am really curious about this school, as friend seeking to place her DS there. But I thought Surbiton was an all girls from Reception to 18, but there is a boys prep department, but no secondary stage is that right?

Boys up to 11 then they go all over.
A strange little school- behaviour a bit wild, it's very small (building) and the head allegedly had an affair with a mother on a ski-ing trip.......

well...they haven't got that on the website!

It's hard to know just by a website - good to hear views of real people so thank you!!

A very short head too....

It does sound a weird place!! Maybe she should look elsewhere

Shrewsbury House? Rokeby?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/01/2010 20:20

Is it really that bad? I didn't even know it was there, thought there were just girls!

I've never heard of it! The dc's school certainly don't play matches against them and they definitely play other schools from that area.

Deaddei makes it sound like one to avoid.

The (male) Head is now retired - went on sick leave for a year then disappeared. Stress from the new senior school Head, it is rumoured.

Haven't heard about the ski trip Mum but doesn't sound likely. because he was a lovely gentleman.

Now the Head of the junior girls is the Head of the boys too.

Not got anyone there myslef (DD1 left the girls senior school 3 years ago, DD2 still there (unfortunately as school gone downhill since the old head J-Lo retired 2 years ago), but friends with boys at the prep just love it.

Well worth going to look because it could be just right for you, lovely atmosphere I'm told.

A friend's ds is there (her dd is at the girl's prep). She is very happy with it so far. She had thought she might try him at seven for Shrewsbury House or Rokeby. She has now decided she prefers the 11+ transfer, which opens up Tiffin as a potential secondary. Also Kingston Grammar is easier to get into at 11, seemingly.
