NOt hearing ending sounds

Hi
My ds(4) learnt to read before Christmas using a ?look and say? method, he progressed quickly to Ginn level 3. Since Christmas they have moved onto ?New Way? to build decoding skills and use as a structured spelling scheme.
He appears unable to hear the ending sound of words despite emphasising it when reading. He is focusing on the initial and middle sounds and guessing at the end. His teacher has provided some extra worksheets to help.
What are the best ways to get/help him to hear the ending sounds?

Sound familiar to my DS who had a hearing problem. He had grommits fitted and has been fine since...

I think its a stage of development they just have to reach.DD2 is in reception too and after months of me trying to emphasise end sounds she just clicked and was able to spell all of a cvc word.

if the sounds he can't hear are high frequency sounds like f s etc he may well have a 'glue ear' hearing problem. Does he lots of heavy colds, ear complaints etc? If so ask for a hearing test.

It is quite normal, the group of year 1 and 2s I work with some still struggle with end sounds. I would not worry
