to use for 3 and 4 year olds, as well as me! I'm sure I've got them!

the usual mn recommendation is the nitty gritty comb, to be used alongside lots of conditioner (buy a cheap bottle ) - works well as lots of them are building up resistance to pesticides - plus no nasty chemicals on los heads

Hi - my stepkids were consistently coming home with the pesky things! Wash hair, put on lots of conditioner and comb hair with nit comb. Repeat nightly, or as often as you bath/wash hair. Tea tree shampoo & conditioner is often recommended.
Comb hair with nit comb occasionally once you've got the current infestation under control and you might be able to nip future ones in the bud.
I wouldn't bother with the chemicals either - this works well and is pretty harmless.

Hedrin worked for us, not a chemical as such but suffocates them. We did also use conditoner and nitty gritty comb but noticed a big difference in numbers after using the Hedrin.

Thats useful to know - my stepkids are now adolescents and seem less tasty to nits, but I'm sure its just a matter of time before DD gets them.
