VERY sturdy girls shoes wanted!

My DD age 5, reception, ruined her school shoes in less than 2 weeks, the scuffs on the toe were so deep that the white lining under the leather was visible. And they weren't even cheap ones, they were Ricosta.

I then got her a pair of Timberland suede boots, a bit like UGG boots, just less "floppy", more like eskimo boots and water proof, she would wear these to and from school and outdoors. In doors she wore wears plimsoles. This works well.

But I would like to get school shoes at least for spring / summer. Has anyone seen school shoes with a lip (basically the outer sole extending up over the toe of the shoes), so that there simply is no leather on the toe?

I have seen Ricosta makes this style, the model is called Judy, but I can't seem to find them in size 10.

I prefer to buy online, but if not, I'm in Berkshire.

I'm not sure what side of Berkshire you are, but Doogies stock a good range of childrens shoes, including Ricosta and other euro brands, and are very helpful (at least the Wallingford branch which I have visited are). You could give them a ring and ask what they have

Angulus are what you need, if you can find a shop near you that stocks them. Dd2 has last year's version of these and they are fab. They are jolly expensive (I bought them in the sale last year for her to grow into) but if you want indestructible kids shoes it's the way to go. They're often available cheaper from ebay sellers. They come up big, and are quite wide-fitting.

Oh, they are lovely, frogs, but are they not prone to scuffing on the toe as well?

I really do like Angulus, but I have never bougth them as I found them far too expensive ;)

DD had Ricosta Holly last year, they were really robust. Unless your dd was dragging the shoes deliberately along the ground I would consider returning the shoes - you got nothing to lose.

T K Maxx is worth a try they sometimes have some of the german makes.

One of the girls at her school, who is very similar to my dd, ruined the toe of her DM school shoes in the same way within 2 weeks - For some kids (ie mine),I honestly don't think that even really sturdy shoes will do it, they have unless they have that rubber lip.

I would buy start rite from john lewis and then take back to complain if that happens - although i suspect the only way to totally destruct a shoe like that is to crawl around.

Ricosta are fantastic. I have gone from buying my ds a new pair of SR's or C's every half term - he is a very active little boy - to just replacing the Ricosta's when they become too small. My dd has Ricosta too and the same. I buy them both the Ricosta boots which have velcro tabs and reflective strips on the boy's boots. They are so wonderful. They are also warm and completely waterproof.
