Can any reception teachers out there please explain to me what "PM benchmark assessment" carried out at the end of the reception year is please? Had a note in DDs home/school diary at the end of term saying that she had reached "level 9" but despite googling am none the wiser, and I forgot to ask at parents evening - Doh! Thanks.

PM benchmarking is a fine- tuned reading assessment. There are 30 levels of books which go up to a reading age of 12. I haven't got anything in front of me to tell you what a level 9 is, but it's respectable, I think! I do have a list somewhere, but it's probably best to ask the teacher if she's happy with the level your dd is at.
