Help on school selection

Hi,

My son is almost 4 years old now and is in a local montessori school. We decided to look for some prep schools and have places in Newton Prep and DCPS. Wanted to know a bit about how we go about selecting which one to go for. Some points we noted: -

  1. DCPS grounds seem very imposing. Do you have to be super rich or something to send your child there?
  1. There was a bit of scary stuff on Mumsnet regarding Newton's proprietor and where he made his fortune
  1. DCPS seems to have a bend towards drama, arts and sports. Did not find any information on how they do in numeracy, etc? Also, GSG says they are not for wimps, whatever that means?
  1. Newton seems to be more academically inclined...

Any similar decision making process you went through? Could you help me decide please?

Thank you.

Mum 1901 - happy to give you some insight on DCPS, could you send me an email (click on "contact poster") ? Don't really want to be any more recognisable than I already am, online!

Hi there,

Not sure if this topic is still active and I can add a message but I thought I'll give it a try. Have you decided which school you'll send your DS to?
We are facing almost the same options and trying to make the right decision.

I'll be grateful for any info on DCPS.
