Any primary teachers out there please?

I am currently helping out with reading at my son's school. I really enjoy it, and am more or less left to my own devices as far as helping them goes. However, one or two of the children really lack concentration and are not at all motivated. I would like to be able to encourage them, but as I'm not a teacher, I don't really know where to start. Would anyone be able to give me some help please? I was thinking maybe word games, or tips to keep them focused? TIA.

could you not just ask your Son's teacher - surely she knows the children and what might work for them? Or she may have some simple games or other resources that you could borrow.
