Priest reference for primary school admission

Little one possibly going to my old catholic school. As ive only gone back to Catholisim lately, as I have been with other faiths. Therefore as I have just attended recently I have only been going twice or sometimes 3 times a month, but more often twice (due to other activities).

Therefore because I go twice a week does this have any bearing on my child's admission place (especially the reference from the priest) as it is our catchment area school.

It all depends on the school's admissions criteria, which should spell out what they mean by 'regular church attendance' or whatever form of words they use. At the C of E school where I'm a governor, they define it as attending at least twice a month over the space of a year. I have heard, though, that Catholic schools often expect attendance every week with no weeks off.

Have you checked your school's website/prospectus/your LEA's schools admissions booklet?

I guess it depends on who else applies.

my twins were refused a place when we moved. so i asked my old priest for a reference and it seemed to do the trick

When is the closing date for forms? Do you time to clock up some regular attendance.
FWIW our school/church regard weekly attendance as 'regular', twice a month as 'irregular' and anything less at 'occasional'. In fact the priest asks you which box he should tick (playing on the old catholic guilt thing).

the school will need to publish its admission criteria.Have you checked the school's website ? If no joy give them a ring and ask them to send you a copy

Your attendance to church has a lot of bearing on your child's admission, unless the school is not over-subscribed. Most catholic schools have the same criteria, and they expect you to attend church every week for as long as possible. On my priest's reference form it actually asks the priest not to sign the form if you are not known to the priest.

Thanks I have checked. I will be put in category 4 in case of a tie-break. The school does insist on regular WEEKLY attendance.

Therefore if the school is over subscribed we will be in category 4.
