Any words with a double K in them?

DS has homework where he has to find words with double letters in them.
eg T - little, patter
N - Nanny, dinner, skinny

However one of the letters is K and we can't think of a single word with a double K in it! Am I just being a bit stupid?
Help us out here!

thegrammerpolicesic · 23/11/2009 18:07

Oh yes Pukka!
I suspect it'll only be ones from other languages which have crept into English.

You may need to do ck in the middle.

Makka Pakka -

Am liking trekking

Am off to look at SEA's link.

TBH I don't think it is a very good letter to pick for part of the homework, doesn't work in the same way as some of the other letters.
I think his teacher would not want 'ck' words, but they are the only ones we can think of!

Like that website SEA, must bookmark that.
Many of those word are ones that I have never heard of, let alone 8 yo DS! Not sure how he would be expected to come up with those.
Bloody homework!

You have to have bookkeeper. Isn't it the only word in the English language with 3 doubles in a row?

jkklpu · 23/11/2009 18:20

tikka
pukka

jkklpu · 23/11/2009 18:21

chukkah

blametheparents · 23/11/2009 18:22

Oh yes, 3 doubles in a row.
Gotta go on the list.
Now - how do I get DS to ome up with that one? Might need some fairly extensive clues!
I really try not to help too much with his homework, but sometimes they need a hand.

DS1 used the word "fukkin" in his written work in Y2 if that helps at all.

blametheparents · 23/11/2009 21:48

Lol!

Guess he could use 'shitty' as a double 't' word!

WingedVictory · 23/11/2009 22:02

"brekkie" is surely a valid abbreviation (double B there)

I was going to go with bookkeeper, too!

Incidentally, I have discovered that UK English doubles up the consonants in places where US English does not (e.g. American Express Travelers' Checks - sic), so stick with the UK!
