DD (Reception) "emotional development below expectations"

DD started school in September, just received first report (parents' eve tomorrow). She is "below expectations" on all three aspects of "emotional development".

I know she's quiet at school, but I feel wretched!

The same thing happened to my child in reception. She has Selective mustism and apparently could not even be marked on the scale for some things. She is fine now and they mark on a different scale in the later years. At the time I was really upset about it. However, it has meant that she has had lots of help and is now very confident although still quiet. Good luck with the future.

jojoduck - Yes, but my child doesn't have an "issue" - she's doing fine, she's simply quiet at times. Her teacher (whose efforts I support 100%) was a bit embarrassed about the whole thing, to be honest.

We were told they were only allowed to tick something off if they have seen it many times, and by different people! Our school lets us send it notes when they do something good at home as this may often count towards proof.
