Any other Jan starters? Can we get through it together?

My DS is starting reception after xmas and seems excited but also reluctant to leave nursery. He's been at nursery 3 days a week since he was 7 months old and has had 2 very best friends since baby room, they're all going to a different Primary School! He has one other boy going to the same school and they'll be a few other familiar faces.

I'm not too worried about how he'll settle in as he is generally sociable and confident. He has had some behaviour issues at nursery though and can be quite defiant. Im worried about silly things like knowing what to do at lunch, playtime etc he also shows no interest in writing his name but does love books. I'm also concerned about working drop offs and pick ups as we're using grandparents but may need the after school club too. scary times.

DD starts in a mixed nursery/reception class after Christmas and we have her school visit on Tuesday. Although DS is at the school already and DD seems excited about going, she is my little baby and surely can't be going to start school soon!

I have a feeling I will be a bit emotional in January.

I wonder if there is anyone else with a January starter?

ds starts in January. he goes to the nursery at the school every morning and will be moving up with some of his friends which is a relief, I really cant get my head around him actually starting school. i mean, its school!! eek!

DD had her visit on Tuesday and had a great time . She knows quite a lot of the children in the class already as they were at pre-school together. When she found the clippy cloppy shoes in the dressing up area she was very happy .

She will have another visit, in the afternoon some time before the end of term, then a home visit just before she starts. Think the home visit will be in first week of January.

ds has an afternoon in his new class the first weds of dec, we have bought his new coat and uniform... oh god, don't know if I can do this!

he is really looking forward to it though.

Anyone else with DC starting school in January?

DD had her second visit a couple of weeks ago and was happy . We have her home visit on 6th January and I think she starts school on 11th January. Pity DS goes back to school on the 5th and so she will be going and taking him and not staying for a while.
