Nursery- Child withdrawn..any advice please?

a friend's child started nursery last week, had all meetings, went for visit, had home visit, got list of what to buy before they started, they even changed morning/afternoon as another space had come up..parent needed to bring in a certain proof of address...this was in previous address, so has changed with people and is waiting to receive confirmation in post, school said a phone call in school to these people was adequate until letter arrived..that was friday, this morning, friend receieved call from school, withdrawing child until letter arrives!!!!!!!

What can she do?
Any help greatly appreciated!

Probably some admin box ticker in the office. Has she tried talking to them face to face? I'd go in be totally calm and reasonable and stand there with a pile of post with my name on proving that's where I live and say the 'proof' letter's in the post and will be with them by the end of the week. But then again if it's council tax or something can't she nip down to the town hall and get a copy and take it in herself? Or call the council and ask them to fax the school.

Sounds a bit strange to withdraw the child poor thing is just getting used to the place, did they do a home visit to the old address? Could the health visitor GP surgery not confirm address change?

I would imagine they are dubious about whether the child qualifies for a place until written proof arrives. May be more difficult to withdraw him once he has started. A few days won't make much odds.

Parents own several houses, one listed is where they are right now while renovating one of the others..not on electoral roll at this house (school have rang to check!) as they rent it out and are also staying there themselves indefinatly while do other one up.

they did home visit at the house theyre staying at and actually knocked on doors before hand to ask "does x, y & z live there?"!!!

Cb have confirmed letter is on way, but too far to go and collect a copy and they say they cant fax one over!

poor child thinks teacher is ill(only 3yrs) and will go back when better

From what you say "parents own several houses, one listed is where they are right now while renovating one of the others etc." - it's not surprising the school is being particulaly careful tbh. If they're legit they have nothing to worry about but it sounds to me very much like someone has told the nursery that they might be using an address of convenience.

yes it does sound like someones stirring?..the dad own and rents out a few houses and theyre currently renovating one for them to live in themselves..they have expplained all this to school who seem more concerned with losing face if another parent found out they were not actually in catchment, than making sure this child is settled (the house they are renovating is one road away from being in the catchment area!)

Well you can see it from the school's point of view. Sounds like a school lots want to get into, so presumably they don't want to be in the situation of being accused of allowing someone in fraudulently. Does sound like someone's had a quiet word though doesn't it.
