Quick reading level query - "lime plus"?

DD finished Yr2 as an independent reading and is now bringing home "lime+" books from Yr3. It is the same school, but they've moved to a different site so everything is still settling down a bit.

She wants me to ask the teacher why she's been "demoted", but I want to get my facts straight. Is it possible that "lime+" is a KS2 equivalent to what she was on in KS1? Or has there (as she thinks) been a mistake?

(And before anyone asks, no I don't know why she didn't just ask the teacher herself and I have already made that point to her!)

"reader" not "reading" obviously. It's just as well she doesn't take after me!

Lime + will be a book above the lime reading level. Lime is equivalent to the national curriculum level 3C. We generally put children on to free reading at this point, but wometimes use our own transition set of books for the children who lack confidence.

Thanks trickerg, that's helpful. That does dounds as if they may be roughly equivalent to the fairly easy "independent" books that the infant site had available. Will put a note in her book to say that she is wondering why the level has changed and ask them to explain to her.

Just found something called 'plus lime' which comes after lime, and is published by Rigby Star. Could this be it?

No, they are non-reading scheme books - chapter books that have had stickers added. The first one seemed about the right level, but today's is much simpler (which is the point at which she noticed the sticker).

I think possibly it is the KS2 site's means of differentiating independent books suitable for younger pupils that are only just off the reading scheme, as opposed to the older ones.

LOL at wometimes! Glad it's not just me!

I don't get this either.
We have some youngish children at our school (5.5) who have been transferred onto free reader after about BIff and Chip stage 7/8 .Whereas other children are made to plod through up to lime.
