plimsolls for wide feet with high instep

I always struggle to get shoes that fit ds1 who is a G/H fitting. I think the main problem is his high instep.

Any thoughts on which make are likely to fit?

I'd love to buy online to avoid trawling the shops but it is so hard to tell which ones might fit.

have you tried clarks? They do width fitted plimsolls with velcro fastenings.

My DS is due to start reception in september and he has an incredibly high instep and wide feet...he is beyond an H fitting so can completely understand how difficult it is!
Clarks wouldn't go anywhere near his feet at all but managed to find some velcro ones in M&S for £3 that were very wide and fitted perfectly so if you haven't already tried there it might be worth doing so!

I've just ordered the M&S ones on line in two sizes - I reckon at that price it is worth taking a chance. Hopefully this will get me out of trawling round shops with two grumpy children.

Ds (just finished year 1) has hugely wide feet. We cannot even squeeze them into the ones from M&S (even at 2 sizes too large!). However, M&S are probably the place to try.

I have given up on plimsolls (I have been everywhere). He now wears normal canvas shoes for PE in the plainest colours I can find. I have explained to the school why this is and it has never been a problem. He can actually get into canvas shoes from Next (albeit at 1 1/2 sizes too large) so it is not too expensive.

I've seen some nice shoes on there but wasn't sure if they're fit.

Well, we usually have to go up a size for ds, but to my surprise he can usually fit in them. He is an H+ width fitting with a high instep too - Clarks never have anything that works for him. I would try them first though as I suspect it may vary from style to style.

we also have no luck with clarkes. Sometimes we get lucky with startrite, but otherwise end up with more expensive brands like ricosta.

No problem at all-hope they fit for you cause know what its like keep trawling round shops!

DS can get some Next shoes on as well-in fact he has got some canvas ones on at the moment from Next which fit fab but usually we have to get Geox ones which seem to be the only ones that fit him. He's got Buckle My Shoe ones for school which were a huge bargain brand new off e-bay-I took a bit of a gamble but was very pleased when found they fitted really well!

I'll second the M&S ones, my son is a G/H fitting and has a high instep.

The velcro fitting makes it easy for him to get them on, he's 6.

We also get wide fit shoes from M&S to prevent me paying extortionate amounts of money for Clarks

Gone a half size up for DD (she's H), and got velcro ones
The guy in the shoe shop was mumbling that they have nothing but problems with the black school plimsoles and fitting properly.

Seriously though I am really pleased they fit cause I know what a struggle is to find anything to go on my DS's feet!
