Leaving primary school

It's my son's last day at primary school today and I am devastated. He doesn't seem at all bothered, although he has said he will miss his friends.

I am dreading picking him up today as I know I am going to get really upset at the school gates, I get upset thinking about it.

Has anyone got any ideas to help being the bright and breezy parent I want to be to prevent untold embarassment to my 11 year old?

My ds1's last day tomorrow. Mind you there'll be 3 siblings to follow. I know I'll be very sad when it's dd2's last day.

For me it's exciting as he'll be moving on to secondary school with new experiences .... he's not so keen! I'm worried how to deal with ds1 as he doesn't want to leave and I think he'll be upset tomorrow!

Don't think about it too much and why not go out for a cake afterwards with him - something to celebrate his last day.
