My 'baby' leaves primary school tomorrow...

I can't believe that DS1 leaves primary school tomorrow and starts secondary school in September. It only seems like yesterday that he was starting primary school.

Am feeling pretty choked about it as he has thoroughly enjoyed primary school and entered into the spirit of it all.

Have Ds2 still at the school for another four years so will still be involved with the school but I can't help feeling a bit .

Anyone else in the same boat?

My youngest leaves tomorrow and I am finding it much harder than when my eldest left 2 years ago. It feels like the end of an era in MY life as well as his. He is so excited to be moving on - but I know secondary school is a completely different experience as a parent so it feels sad and exciting all at the same time!

My second child leaves tomorrow too , but still got another 2 to go (one not even started yet !)They had a lovely leavers service when they all talked about their primary school memories.Felt my eyes welling up when they sang a song about letting go and moving on.Too excited about him starting secondary to be too sad.

How come everyone is leaving tomorrow? Mine has another week to go. I know what you mean about feeling a bit sad though,it's the end of an era.My DD is feeling bad about going from big fish to tiddler again.

God mine have a fantastic fortnight planned ahead. barbeques, trips, parties, just LOVELY, they are so lucky

My baby goes tomorrow as well and it is harder than when DS left 2 years ago.
They had a prom (thankfully nothing over the top) on Saturday and it was lovely to see her class having so much fun together.

Today we had a lovely church service where they were all given a bible and got to chose their own hymms. Shine Jesus Shine always makes me blub anyway.

Tomorrow Yr6 are putting on the final assembly, DD has hinted there will be some moving pieces.
The school is on my doorstep and over the years I have listened to reading, done a bit of dinner ladying, helped with swimming, part of the PTA, although not so much recently as I work longer hours, but it has been part of my life for 9 years and I will miss it.

Thank you for sharing this with me. Helps to know I'm not the only one with a lump in my throat. God, if I'm like this now, heaven help me when DS2 leaves in four years time!
