ds's school went from good to satisfactory in its ofsted recently

The Leadership team got a pretty fierce assessment (spelling?) and got a grade 3.

I feel the parents deserve some feedback about it, how the school is going to aim higher etc.

But I understand the HT is making it pretty clear that he doesn't agree with the ofsted, thinks it was 'negative' but isn't going to challenge it because there's 'no point'.

I'm really shocked by this attitude and I actually agree with what the inspector said about the school. It can't be right for a HT be so arrogant can it? I mean it is quite serious if thte ofsted says the leadership is poor isn't it???

Our school went from Good to Satisfactory, too, mostly due to decline in KS2 SAT results.
I guess probem with Ofsted is they only get to see a snapshot of what happens at that the school. I expect there isn't a lot of room for appeal after the report is made, so your HT may be right about there being no point in 'fighting it'.
Do TAs or other staff at the school send their own children there? That is often a good sign of whether staff themselves have faith in how the school is run!!

I'm not sure how much Ofsted reports are worth. Our school got an outstanding yet alot of the teaching is quite clearly sub-standard. Alot of the parents voiced the concerns over the teachers who really aren't any good but that didn't seem to make any difference, the HT sweettalked the inspectors. How do you feel the teaching is at the school? I think your instincts for the teachers are much more accurate than an ofsted assessment.

I think the teaching is ok, but my ds is classic 8 yr old, hard to motivate, actually he's pretty lazy. Loves maths but his handwriting is shocking. He can read though. Teacher just says it's blood from a stone to get excellent work in literacy from him.

I don't know if that's him or the fact that there's 30 in the class, very mobile population and he's in the middle so gets very little one on one attention ever.

dh thinks he has too many activities and is overtired, I think t hat's an excuse!

Our school did the same. Now, after an informal assessment it is "good with outstanding features". I think the reports are a bit of a nonsense in some areas.

For example, DD's playgroup were told they would never be outstanding because they don't have a permanent noticeboard (they move one in and out of a cupboard)!!

BUT our school was 100% upfront about the whole thing, and within ten days of the report there was a meeting with staff, parents, governors to discuss the way forward with action points which are continually reported on.

I think your headteacher's attitude would make me uneasy.

A 3 for managment is worrying. If teaching was a 2, leadership a 2, social and emotional a 2, but the children's levels were low then that wouldn't worry me but clearly value added here is poor as well as management!
