Reprots on last day of term

Apparently the school are not issuing reports until the last day of term this year.I feel this is a bit silly as it doesn't give you a chance to follow up / clarify anything on them.One of the DC's teacher is leaving and the other DC will be leaving at the end of term.
I can't understand why they are doing this ( apart from saving themselves work !)

This always happens to us, and I find it really irritating for the reasons you've mentioned. Next time there is an opportunity for feedback, I'm going to ask them for the thinking behind this, in the nicest possible way, of course.

This used to be the case with our primary, but feedback from parents was taken on board that parents didn't like the word-processed reports, nor did they like getting them in the last few days.

We have three more weeks of school but reports will be issued at the end of next week, allowing almost two weeks to discuss any concerns with the teacher.

Reports are also now in a much easier to read format with effort grades and achievement grades which are in line with Nat Curr grading appropriate to each class, i.e. at a certain level, or working towards a certain level.

They did this at my DD's Primary when she was in yr6 - there were several things I would have liked clarifying but obviously didn't get the chance.

Why don't you request a meeting with each of your children's teachers before the end of term to discuss their progress this year as you are aware there won't be time to follow up any concerns arising from their reports.

If you can persuade a few other parents to do the same, they might issue the reports earlier next year for the sake of a quiet life.

I had a feeling that it was statutory for reports to go out at least 2 weeks before the end of term to allow parents time to give feedback etc.

I'll check at school next week if you like, but I'm not working until Thursday.

I thought the same as Littlefish - I'm a teacher too.

Oh, I've never heard that before about the two weeks! Our primary send reports out usualy 1 week - 10 days before the end of term. ds1's secondary release yr7 reports 10 days before the end of term.

I'm usually in Europe on a school trip (secondary) and dh reads to me excerpts from their reports on the phone, and it makes me really homesick!

it is a it late. DS school are giving them out this friday with parents evening being the following wed so can feedback etc.
