Present for End of Year..... 2 teachers and 2 TA's

HELP!

Wondering what is appropriate to buy DD1's Reception teachers and TA's.

She has 2 teachers that job share, and one of them is leaving the school for a post in another school.

Her 2 TA's have been brilliant too.

What does everyone else do? DH is opposed giving anything but he's a tight fisted so and so!

I'd give them all the same. Nothing expensive though. A small bag/box of nice chocs/biscuits or a bottle of wine. And/or a home-made card goes down well. As a TA my choice would be Ferrero Rocher chocs every time but apparently I'm odd!

Dont know if you were just thinking about buying something but mine made a bookmark for each one last year (again, 2 teachers and 2 TA's). She did lovely pictures on them then wrote on the back. We laminated them then she took them in and they seemed chuffed to bits.Just an idea?

I have bought a BOGO half price fruity M&S bath things which are really pretty for ds2's TAs in Reception.

At the leisure centre today I bought some silver bookmarks with butterflies on which will be nice for his teacher.

DS1's teacher is a friend of mine and so I will get her something nice too - vodka??

I always get the same for each, bottle of wine and a nice card, or chocs - this year if I get time was thinking of making some cookies. I think the time you spend and the message in the card is generally more important than spending megabucks.

You can order 'post it' pads from vista print and have them printed with whatever you want to say. Loads of great pictures/designs to choose from. We're doing joint pressies from whole class and have ordered these, havent come yet so cant say what they;re like but I have high hopes!

I've let DS pick his own again this year and just added an extra gift for the headteacher. He enjoys picking his own presents and has good taste.

We steer clear of anything that says "teacher" or ornaments etc and try and get something that can be eaten or worn like bracelets, pendants etc.

I remember reading last year (when I was new to the world of teacher presents) that home baking was a no no as teachers stated they preferred not to eat home made items and that they get enough items saying teacher on or mugs to last a lifetime.

happymummy...I would agree there, I have a LOT of mugs from lovely children over the year, but unfortunately, you can only use one at a time...so unless it is a NQT I wuld steer away from the mugs/teacher ornaments!

homemade things are nice, personlised things are nice as mentioned above, vouchers usually go over very well, have yet to come across a teacher who does not enjoy those, as they get to choose what they would like then.

I love homemade cards/cards from parents with a word of thanks for the year.

Otherwise, ask your child what he/she knows about their teacher (eg; all my kids know my favourite colour is purple as in course of conversation it comes up a lot) so try to encorporate what they know the teacher likes on a more personal level and use that info to find/make something for the teacher/TA!

How much do people tend to spend if they're getting vouchers?

Bottle of prosecco! Cheaper than champagne but delicious and lots of supermarkets have it on offer.

My stock ones are a £10 Borders Bookshop giftcard for the teacher, £5 for TA's (at the end of the school year to buy a holiday read/DVD) or a £5 Starbucks giftcard each (at Christmas for a coffee and cake break).

I have also given a nice photo album in the past too, but after 16 years of buying for primary teachers (and another 7 to go ) I now just get the giftcards.
