Do parents get Yr2 Sats results?

Ds (Y2) got his report today and I was expecting the results of his SATS but there is no sign. Do schools usually give the rsults to parents?

They do - but they may not be ready yet. Ours don't come on the report, but later and seperately.

moffat · 24/06/2009 19:11

oh thanks LadyGlencorra, wasn't sure what to expect.

different schools do it differently...ours come with the reports, but our reports do not go out till 16th July, so although I already have the paperwork of teacher assessment results to put in kids report envelopes...parents will find out their SATS/Teacher assessment results when they get the reports.

No, they don't. They get their end of Key Stage 1 teacher assessment reported at the end of the year - this will be determined using a long list of evidence complied all year from September, a small part of which will be the SAT tests.

I'm sure we got y2 results in July, they are sent away to be marked independently so they do take a while to be returned to school.

andlipsticktoo · 24/06/2009 19:22

Feenie, we definitely got the sat results separate from the reports.

Feenie · 24/06/2009 19:27

They are not sent away to be marked independently! It is the lots of the poor Y2 teacher, plus senior management if they wish to help with moderation of marking (I mark our writing).
Interesting, andlipsticktoo. It's definitely not a legal requirement, so I'm not sure the majority of schools do.

Feenie · 24/06/2009 19:27

the lot

Feenie · 24/06/2009 19:33

Hang on, andlipsticktoo, are we talking about the same thing? I didn't say the results would be separate from the reports, that's down to the school, but that it is the teacher assessment that is reported, not the SAT test results.

trickerg · 24/06/2009 19:41

I really wonder why schools are sending our test scores as well as statutory teacher assessments. Can't see the logic there. I wonder if they get many parents coming in to ask why the teacher assessment is different to the SATs score. It's asking for trouble IMO!!!

moffat · 24/06/2009 19:47

thanks everyone, I guess I will get them later then.

Maybe things have changed then. They were sent away to be marked independently when ds1 and 2 were in y2. That was 4 years ago. I am talking about the SATs at the end of ks2.

andlipsticktoo · 25/06/2009 11:28

We got reports with teacher assessment and SAT results.

Feenie · 25/06/2009 12:19

That would be Y6 SATs then, not Y2! Yes, at end of KS2 both are reported. But the op is asking about Y2.

My ds did his year 2 sats this year and I dont think we get the results, I seem to remember this being explained to us at the meeting at school before they had them

trickerg · 25/06/2009 23:49

You get teacher assessments.
