new school, inviting friend for first time

My dd has just joined Year 4 in a new school and she has made friends quite easily within 2 weeks. No one knows me at the school but dd wants to invite a girl to play.

Would you write a note to the mum with an invite and my number? Dd could give it to her friend to pass on. They are 9. There are never many mums at the school gate for their age group anyway as most go home alone or get picked up later I think.

Why not invite the friend to play, and the mum for a coffee at the same time?

A note sounds sensible - or perhaps ask your dd to ask the girl for her phone number?

Yes good idea, I was thinking of asking her if she wanted a coffee too. Her dd has been so sweet helping 'the new girl' settle in!
