"Colindale School here or "Barnfield School here"

I'm a bit confused with all the figures

I haven't clicked on the links so I've no idea. My advice to you would be, go and look around both of them, speak to the Head, speak to the children ...get a feel for the school.

Then, and only then, look at the Ofsteds. I don't think that result tables matter a bit in primary. But that is JMO.

Totally agree that you can't go on league tables. My DD's ex primary school came 24th out of nearly 300 schools in the county. However it is a terrible school with very poor teachers and has just got a "Notice To Improve" from Ofsted. I would think this time next year it will be in special measures. The Ofsted said that kids go in above average and come out below average, that the education is unacceptable and the teaching of a low standard.

So how come they're so high in the league tables? I think mainly through the school intensively practising for the SATS, if you reapeat the type of tests often enough then it will raise marks. Plus parents get their kids tutored, not for the SATS as such, but just because they're worried about how their kids are doing generally.

I've moved DD to a different school that I just knew when I went to look at it was the one, the head was so enthusiastic I knew DD would do well there. I have no idea where they are in league tables but they do have a good Ofsted.

But going on figures. The both look good schools. Barnfield does a bit worse in English but slightly better in science.

I believe from how I understand the figures that Barnfield gets a higher "Value Added" score - this is where they take into account what level the children were when they started the school.

Both schools are brilliant Barnfield is great for accomdating families, emotional needs and focus alot on the mental needs of the chikdren. Def a good community spirit
