Fancy Dress help needed

Right, I'm c**p and fancy dress stuff and really hate it. My DS3 (Y5) has been asked to come to school next week for a french day dressed as an item of french food! Oh, what a brilliant idea. I'm in the sticks, working 4 days a week from home and have zero sewing abilities so what on earth can I do that's quick and easy? I thought a cop out would be a chef, but need white apron and chef hat for that - any really easy ideas gratefully received....

Wrapped in brown paper and go as a baguette?

how about this?

Brilliant, esp the baguette. It had crossed my mind actually, but since he has to be in it all day didn't think it would last! Have copped out, and found a chef's outfit on ebay, (he can go as whatsisname from Ratatouille!) which will have to do. God, I HATE fancy dress!
