bishops stortford college friendly enough?

Hi, dd is due to go to school sept 2010 and i have her name down for bishops stortford college which facilities-wise i was blown away by BUT i wondered if anyone had any experience of how friendly the pre-prep is? dd is used to cuddles and attention at her pre-school and she's quite quiet until she finds her feet. I'm going to Friends school open day next week as well. I've looked at Felsted twice (as is only 5mins drive away) but didn't get the right feeling from it. Any thoughts and experiences from anyone?

Hi

The pre-prep is lovely and the Reception teachers are really great with the new kids. I can't recommend it highly enough! I didn't like Felsted either and now have a friend with a daughter there who isn't over the moon with it - kids and parents haven't been very friendly to them

I don't know much about Friends but as i said I would recommend BSC wholeheartedly.

Good luck!

PS has she actually got a place at BSC? Just be aware that the waiting list can be a bit of a nightmare....

Hi Kersplash,
I have applied and paid a small fee and next step is an assessment in October after which we will either be offered a place or offered a place on the waiting list(or told to go away ) Academically she'll be fine with the little assessment i just hope she doesn't get upset as new situations without me can be a bit problematic sometimes! I've decided against Friends, the only reason i was looking was just that i'm impatient for dd to go to school (i know that sounds awful, i don't mean it that way, just that i think she'll really enjoy it) and Friends take from 3yrs. DD is a 1st oct baby and will lose a lot of friends from pre-school this summer . Anyway, wafflewaffle, thanks for advice , its funny i really tried to like felsted as its only about 5mins from where i live but just couldn't and couldn't put my finger on why either. Just quick question, are the vast majority of children from stortford or is there a bit of a mix?

Hello

I'd say most of the children live within 20-30 minutes of the college - there are a LOT of car shares going on! Some people travel from North London though so there is quite a spread!

When my DD went for her assessment there were a few children being peeled off their mums so I'm sure they are used to dealing with that. But also remember that Sept 2010 is a LONG time away - she will be a very different child by then and will probably have gained a huge amount of confidence

If you are interested in a nursery that feeds children into BSC pre prep I can give you details?

Yes, that would be good. she's settled where she is at pre-school but it would be good to consider. thanks, .
