Have already posted about this but need some more thoughts.
We are planning to relocate. My DD currently has a primary place assured at a school where we are now (she is due to start in reception in Sept). It looks likely that I am not going to know if she has a place in any of the schools nearby where we plan to live until way into the summer as they are currently all full and I will have to prove I live there.

Should we shelve plans for her sake or just go for it as we know it will be good for us all in the long run? How badly will it affect her not being able to prepare for school as she won't know where she is going?

any thoughts?

I would just go for it. She will still be able to prepare for primary school, and when you do know where she is going you can tell her, and show her the building, maybe make contact with some other parents at the school so that she can meet up with some of the other children. If the move is in the best interests of everyone, including her, then I wouldnt put it off for that reason.

I would not even question myself about it, if you feel the move is best for all of you in the long run, then I would do it. She is starting reception, which means she has not been in formal schooling yet, so it is not like she has a whole class of friends who are going to the next year group together. Children are a lot more resilient than I think we, as parents, sometimes give them credit for. She will be fine!

thanks - I know you are both right. I guess its just the not knowing that is bothering me but I guess there are people waiting for appeals that are int he same situation too.
