What is average for Year 6 SATS?

DD has come home with 'test' papers & potential scores

But as I don't know what is average I'm a bit floored

We have had the "If I do well will you be proud of me" to which I replied "I will be very proud of your teachers because they taught you well, however your score in the SATS isn't important as they aren't testing you......& anyway I am always proud of you if you try hard"

Horrible isn't it? I think 4b is average (but don't concentrate enough, so I might be wrong) - DS1 has them too. I can never remember if 4a or 4c is higher, but I know 5 is higher. The whole thing is stupid and pointless.

4b

4a is higher than 4b and 4b than 4c.

Thank you

These days 4b is the 'nationally expected level'. They don't really use the term average anymore. If your papers just had numerically scores it would depend a bit on which subject and which paper it was.

It isn't really a test of your child. Teachers will obviously say that to encourage dedication but a secondary school is probably not even going to look at the results. You said the right thing.

Agree with samjam - DS#1's school asked me for his SATs scores when we went for his first parents evening in December . They did CAT tests at the end of the summer term to place him.

Thanks

I think she is doing OK
