Reading material ? 6yo (but reads a lot)

Can anyone give me some suggestions for some reading material ? esp names of authors. At the moment my son (almost 6) enjoys reading (on his own) Enid Blyton (Secret Seven), Roald Dahl and also the Horrid Henry books. We?re overseas at the moment ? so can?t pop into the library and try things out. Instead we have to get things sent to us (time consuming and unreliable!), so want to be sure that anything that arrives here is suitable! So we?re looking for suggestions of books that are about of the standard of Secret Seven (or a bit higher). Does anyone have any tips???
Many thanks!

I was going to say ' go to the library until I read it properly'.
guardian list
Red House books split into ages.
Amazon suggestion for 6yr old boys
They mention Dick King Smith-who is good.
I would suggest Mr Majeika books by Humphrey Carpenter.

I would second the Mr Majeika books and the shorter books by Dick King Smith. DD1 is six and loves them both - and she's not a particularly girly girl so i'm sure they're equally suitable for boys.

If he's remotely interested in animals, there's a series by Jill Tomlinson, which is good. Includes The Owl who was afraid of the Dark, The Otter who wanted to Know ... You'll find them on Amazon.

My ds loves the Jack Stalwart books, also the Superheroes books, Max Flash and the series where a boy turns into animals (Tiger Terror is one book). Captain Underpants is another favourite plus we have a lot of non fiction books - DK Eyewonder and Kingfisher Young Knowledge series.

There are also some good DK readers (probably level 4) which are about Star Wars, Transformers, Spiderman etc which he loves.

Have fun

Boys seem to like Captain Underpants.

Cressida Cowells' books about Hiccup the Viking! 'How to Train your Dragon' is the first and there are about 6 following on from that. My DS (a major Roald Dahl fan) loved these

"Jeremy James" books by David Henry Wilson are very funny, they'll have your lo laughing out loud.
