didn't get first choice of fab but v oversubscribed primary school(a) although in catchment which has lots of issues for my ds as v close friends already there....but accept have to see how waitlist goes as no grounds for appeal......did get 2nd choice of good/ok school.(b)..however have found out since applying head of infants at (b) is my aunt on my dads side who i haven't spoken to or had anything to do with in over 20years following v distressing custody battle.....since found out didn't think would be an issue as was hoping not going to be an issue as we would get catchment school....now it has........have been advised to accept place at b as all other schools that are a feasible distance are significantly worse .......... not sure would have put b on my list if i'd known... but other schools not great............ not sure what to do........help..any advice much appreciated as too sensitive to discuss with many people in rl

Could it be a positive thing? Do you know your aunt at all? Will she even recognise you?

I think you should definitely go with b). Your child is what is important to you now and you must do what is best for him regardless of your feelings of possible embarassment etc. Your aunt is a professional woman who I very much doubt would take offence against your son at school.
You may end up getting into school a) from the waiting list once all the moving and shaking has settled down!

thanks for that... yes she will recognise me as we bumped into them recently which is how i found out about the school connection..... hope she would be professional but am tempted to ask for a meeting with her and school head prior to sep to make sure my concerns are on record....
