Yes, DS1 did in September and was absolutely fine. The thing about him is that it takes a lot to tire him out so he had no problems and loves being busy all day.

DS1 had orginally thought he was starting in January (as had we) as we had told him that he would be a big enough boy for school then but when it changed to September we just told him that he had grown even quicker! He loved that he was a big boy

My DC did this, at a similar age. In fact the entire intake starts FT in September at their school. You may find he is ready to start by the time September comes around. I noticed a definate change in the children and their friends towards the end of the summer term, and they started to outgrow pre-school.

I think the majority of chidlren at state schools in London do this. They go 2.5 hrs a day to the nursery attached to the school then full time in September in Reception. Most are fine. Obviously there are some that are tearful but its not necessarily predictable. My son was summer born and settled very well but was often very tired and grumpy when he got home.

Both ds' did this and were fine.

DS2 was only 4.2 when he started and was full-time after the first week.

He coped fine.
