SATS KS1 writing tasks

Does anyone know what the long and short writing tasks will be this year? I heard that the teacher can choose between the tasks given last year and the ones that have been sent this year'09. Also, someone is selling the Maths and English papers'08-'09 on e-bay. Are these the tests our children are going to get?

Is this SATS for 7 year olds?

If so I would say just forget about what the content of the tests will be, the school does it and you do NOT need to prepare your child.

I do know what the SATS will be this year, as I am a Y2 teacher, however I am not privy to say the exact detail of them. I would however not worry so much about the exact content, but if you want to assist your child with any prepping for it, go over things like sentence structure, punctuation, adjectives, detailed descriptions etc for the writing. For the reading comprehension, ask a lot of questions when they are reading their books (both before for prediction and after for comprehension of what they have read) and for the maths, review money, time, adding and taking away, measurement etc...all of these topics are covered, so the exact content of the paper is irrelevant.

Also, remember the KS1 SATS are teacher assessment so the tests are used to define the judgement already made on the child through all year assessments, so even if they have an off day with the actual writing of the test, the teacher would just be using this as a piece of the whole assessment process.
