So the primary school offer letters don't come out til next Friday but today I received.....

a letter from the school (the only one I put on the application form) to say 'as a parent of a child entering reception class next term we would like you to come in on Wednesday'
It basically says to come for a coffee and they will answer any questions I may have.
Do they mean to bring in ds also?
Also, they have got his surname wrong on the letter, he has dp's surname, not mine so was suprised to see my surname on the letter.
I'm confused as to why I have got this letter first, ahead of the actual offer letter?
Anyone had something similar? Is this a standard letter?
Does this mean he has def got in, although his name is wrong?
As you can tell this is the first time I've gone through this process.

Ok, so I knew he started full time in Sept 09 but was completely unaware that he actually starts after Easter, mornings only - Why didn't I know this???????
Better get that uniform ordered!
He did get into the school though - obviously.

His birthday is Feb so he is 4 already but when they said he starts the term after his 4th birthday I assumed it would just be in sept! How wrong I was.

In DS's school, children can start mornings only the term after they are 4 and then go full time the term they are 5.

I wonder how that works. Do the send the kids in the last year off early too?

Where do they find the room/teachers? (sorry its random thoughts in my head, I don't expect you to know the answers!)

It's a mixed Nursery/Reception class - DS will have his fifth term in that class after Easter and then move into Year 1 in September.

It's a lovely large classroom with two teachers and lots of extra support.

From what I can work out every school can decide when to take the new starters! It's all a bit random...

I'm also in Bedfordshire like CTM, dd3 (born Feb 05) will start part time (afternoons) in September and go full time after Xmas. The younger ones in her year will be part time (mornings) for two terms. All start in September, only one intake per year.

Other lower schools in the same town have two and three term entry, some are only part time for a few weeks then full time. Others like ours can have some children only full time for one term before Y1.

DS and 2 others will join the current reception class for mornings only and when they move to yr 1 he will stay in reception but go full time.
All a bit confusing for them (and me).

Well the uniform takes 3-4 weeks so no doubt it will not be ready in time but as they only gave us the forms wednesday what more can I do?!
