DD is 11 in Yr6
Her hand writing has always been awful, to the point to has been illegible and teachers have refused to mark it
Main problems is she lefthanded, very bright and a very quick thinker and her mind is working so much faster than she can write.

Last night, at parents evening, we were shown lovely neat, legible pieces of work Her teacher says she has really worked hard to get it neater

Well done!
Please let me know how you did it!

My son is right handed, almost 8 and I can barely read his writing sometimes. His problem is he is made to do joined up writing when he doesn't start singulary placed letters in the right place so he is stuffed before he starts. He doesn't enjoy writing, wants to get it over with, and I don't know what to do.

His sister is 5 and writes beautifully.

My daughter is 6 and finds writing 'boring'. She is very bright, top groups etc etc but handwriting holds very little interest I'm afraid

I've no idea Mrsruffallo I've bought her left handed pens but I'm not sure she actually uses them.
I know her current teacher, who she also had in Yr 5, did do extra handwriting work with them when she took over the class.
She may have just grown up enough to realise the importance of neater work.
It was just so lovely to sit there and not have the whole of parents eveing devoted to her presentation.
Also she adores her teacher and may just want to please her.
Now all we have to do is slow her down a little more so she doesn't make silly mistakes and then she really will be reaching her full potential.
