HELP- have to make WW2 gas mask

Half term homework is to make WW2 gas mask for DD1 (yr3)
Any ideas, or any one made before?
Tried googling but all i get is how to make a real gas mask.

I would make one with an empty sweetcorn tin and a piece of black cardboard or cloth.
USe the cardboard / cloth for the mask, cut out holes for the eyes and mouth and secure the tin from the inside of the mouth hole using gaffer tape. Make sure the tin doesn't have any sharp edges, you could put extra strips of gaffer tape over the edges to make it smoother as well.

Do you not just need to make the box?
That's what we all did for our year 4s last year - a box covered in brown paper with a string to hang round his neck and a label on it

How about a pair of either swim goggles, or, even better, motorcycle/flying goggles (clear ones), plus a ski mask (or what you Brits call a balaclava? balalaika? ...you know what I mean), then add to that the kind of face mask you would use if you were painting or doing some serious DIY (ie a dust mask? no idea what these are called) which you have spray painted army green. Not sure what you could use for the tubing...
