don't have kids that age so not guaranteeing this, but there are some games on www.sheppardsoftware.com/Geography.htm that help (they have different levels; came across them as (adult) friends were competing on the higher levels as to who could do better!)

the other drive-you-crazy-as-an-adult geography game is the 'find the European city' one on Lufthansa - www.lufthansa-usa.com/useugame2007/html/play.html - maybe you could try competing with him!
