Is this a reception place? If so you are lucky to hear so early! But either way I'm sure it is worth celebrating!

bodiddly · 15/01/2009 21:20

thanks ... its the best school in the area and has a breakfast club to boot! Very lucky as both work full time. It seems like a lovely school and he is really excited!

I am in Hertfordshire and they announce the places today for reception places. I got the email whilst still at work.

Hi bodiddly-i am very happy for you, we are also in Herts and my son didn't even get one of our choices but instead we got a school in the next town

My 1st choice was my local (less than 1000m away!) 2nd choice and 3rd choice the others that are within easy reach. Our town has offhand i think 12 schools to choose from and he didn't even get one! He is a bright little thing and not 4 til August so if all else fails i'm holding him back.

Not good for me as a childminder either!

Off to draft my appeal letter.

bodiddly · 15/01/2009 21:35

so sorry to hear that kkey21 - our school is only one road away but I had been warned it was fairly likely we wouldnt get in. I really didn't like the alternatives so huge relief. Have you been on the schoolguru web site for Hertfordshire ... the have advice or a book you can get on tips for appeals!

Yes luckily someone has sent me all the details... Where are you in herts? We are Hertford. Our local school is my 3 yrs old speed 10 mins walk/mine with my need to get slimmer 5 mins!

bodiddly · 15/01/2009 21:51

We are in Potters Bar. Ours is probably a 5 minute walk .. maybe longer with a 4 year old. I will be on the train a long time before he goes to school though so it is up to dp to do the walk!

Thats great news for you....In my appeal i will have to mention the fact i will loose my current mindee who is due to start back with me as she is based at my preffered schools nursery :-(

And who wants a childminder from another town ideally!

Well done to you. I wish your son the best of luck.

(must dash now as ds2 is ready for feeding time!)
