Primary School/Secondary School in 'Sale,' Trafford

Hi, me and my husband are considering moving to 'sale' as the state primary schools in this area are meant to be 'outstanding' further to this our children will have access to some of the best grammers shools too like altrincham and sale.

Calling all mums who may live 'sale' is there any feedback you can give me like a do's and dont list /watch out for etc..

we are aiming to buy late 2009/10 just watching the market for now. However as we need to applying for our eldest by feb 2010 we aim to rent out in the catchment area in the next few months.

I have heard so much about shcooling in 'sale' is it really worth moving there as we really could not afford private schooling.

What would you do if you had thick kids?

We live close by and will prabably move away because of the grammar system for secondary education. Lovely area though and bargains to be had ATM. We just call it Sale BTW.

Why would you move away, because of the grammer school - i thought sale grammer school was in the top 20 state schools?

Thick kids- well atleast they dont need to sit an exam before the attend the primary school...no one will know for a while!

I deliberately chose not to live in Trafford because of grammar school system.

Because of the knock on effect on the local non selective schools which, being realistic, DDs are most likely to attend. Also, possibilty of one passing the exams (Note, exams, not the 11+, an exam for each school) and one not.

Depends on where you live now, really, I'd say.

Are there any schools in this area to avoid and also do those who have children in these schools think that such schools have deserved their 'oustanding' ofstead reports?

Also does anyone know what the commute is like from sale into warrington? My hubby will probably be working there when we move.

The thing is parents can find fault with a school no matter what its Ofsted report says about it being great, or think the school's ace but Ofsted doesn't agree. You have to visit them and work out which would be best for your own child.

Again, as per my earlier post, everything is relative, so depending on the nature of your hubby's commute now he might find getting to Warrington either a breeze or a nightmare. It will vary so much according to exactly where in Trafford you end up living (distance to motorway) and whereabouts in Warrington your hubby works. Personally I think the motorways in the NW are all really busy during rush hour - I used to live in Stockport and commute to Sale before I moved south. My commute in the south east is better on the motorways than that (M11) and only really starts to compare for traffic density when I get to the north circular.

Hi Lizipads I appreciate your response.I am just trying to look for other people's opinions before I take a decision plus do some research as to where I should /want to live and also buying my home that is right for me my husband and children for the next 10 years atleast.
