DS is 4 and struggles to rread another boy keeps telling him he is rubbish would you mention it

Yes. On the one hand your DS does need to deal with kids making stupid comments and learn to ignore, on the hand he's only 4 and the other kids needs to learn not to say unkind stuff. Have a gentle word with the teacher.

I would mention it, or try to encourage your ds to tell the teacher himself.
