Rosemary Works primary school (Islington) - any current/recent experience of it?

We are considering Rosemary Works as a primary school option for our son because we've been told by our local school - where our son happily attends nursery - may not have a place for him in reception. The joys of north london...

Does anyone have or know a child at Rosemary Works primary? I visited the nursery a couple of years ago and liked it but would like to know what the school proper is like.

It seems very sweet and family-like, but I wonder about the quality of the teaching, and their after-school club.

Thanks!

My daughter is a happy, confident 10 year old, who has been at the nursery and school, and loved just about every minute, since she was two and a half. She has had some excellent experiences of teaching there.

I have met people who use the school as a stopgap for reception to year 2 and they all seem happy with it. It looks pretty thin on the ground higher up the school though as some children leave when they get a desirable state place.

Hello - I am Kate, one of the owners of Rosemary Works. I thought it might be helpful if I joined the discussion. We offer a highly original and innovative approach to education, which completely eschews anything like cramming and hot-housing. We recognise that this is not to everyone's taste, but it is intrinsic to our philosophy. We had a good Ofsted this year. Lots of our children progress to some of the best secondary schools in the country - City of London for Girls, Forest, Christ's Hospital, and so on. Please check out our blog, at www.rosemaryworksschool.com, to see examples of what we do. And do come and see us, so that you can make up your own mind. We welcome visitors.
