Reading Age .... help please

when we were at school this was constantly being assessed ...are they still assessed like this and, if not, does anyone know if there is a website where you can get an idea? No flaming please as I know they all develop at own pace etc etc but with twins I am fascinated to see whether my perception that they are about two and half years apart (rather than two and a half mins) on this is correct. Many thanks

You could try the Burt reading test (1974)revised.

Those tests would be OK for comparison purposes, but be aware that they are very old and written/standardised before the literacy hour was introduced - more recent tests tend to score quite differently because apparently the literacy hour has really boosted early literacy skills [dubious-but-simply-reporting-the-facts-emoticon]
