Oh my goodnesss, I only put my application form in at 8.30 this morning, and have come home to find that at 11.30 am. the school had phoned and want me to come for an interview on Wednesday!!!! I have been out of the classroom full time for 6 years and have only ever previously taught in Key Stage 1 although I did have final teaching experience in a Y3/4 class and am qualified 3-11.

So.... this is a maternity cover job in my daughters' school which is v convenient for 3 terms starting in Jan... what do I need to read over the next few days and learn by heart... what will they ask me.... Have only ever had 1 proper interview for my 1st NQT job and that was 14 years ago....

All contributions gratefully received!!

Thanks all.

I would make sure you are up to speed on the new literacy and numeracy strategy, maybe take some samples of planning if possible. Definitely have a look at the units for year 4 - can give you a link to the website if that will help.
AFL (assessment for learning) is a big thing at the moment - expect a question on that.
I have always been asked about classroom organisation, dealing with special needs (remember to talk about G&T as well as learning difficulties), strengths and weaknesses, planning...
I am sure there is more - will come back if I think of some.
