"I had to have cold pack on my head today" Shouldn't I have been told this by the teachers as opposed to my 5yo?

She has just decided to mention it to me now. She bumped her playing princesses something to do with getting boys onto a bed or something or another.

Shouldn't I have been told when I collected her that she had a bump? Or do they only tell you about the bad ones?

Does she have a bookbag? Mine bring home "bumped head letters" when they have had, funnily enough, a bumped head. They should tell you - just so you can be on the look out for any warning signs like drowsiness or vomiting - but they do sometimes forget. My 6 year old came out the other week with a big gouge on his forehead where he had crashed into some furniture during PE and I was a bit put out not to get a letter - 5 minutes after we got home the school bursar rang to say they'd forgotten the bumped head letter!

generally head bumps are recorded in school log and child is given a note to take home. However, sometimes these get left in trays etc.

One system that is handy is head bump stickers on the child in question. Means that if they collapse or whatever, anyone around can see they've bumped their head today.

Otherwise, yes sometimes, very minor bumps (even to the head) might not warrant a note.

Yeah I have checked her book bag and her homework book. I can't feel any bumps, but it has now transpired that she fell off a wall (about two foot high) that they were pretending was the 'princess and the pea' bed not an actual bed. So she will have landed on concrete.

my dd bangs her head regulary, it used to be a standing joke though because I never got the letters, or any letters at all infact, somewhere between the cloakroom and me they disapeared!
