Hi nail polish thanx for the info re P2.

No she doesn't read them as part of the curriculum (because she is still on ORT books that are not at all indicative of her reading ability but that's another story!)

We get them from the library, she reads them for pleasure. She reads them fluently, with the occasional tricky word. She's reading "My Big (Strange) Happy Family" at the moment. She got stuck on "ancestor" I remember, but generally can work out the odd tricky words from reading on or sounding out.

To be honest we usually read things like this instead of her School books she is also reading the Camp Rock book at the moment which is slightly trickier but much more enjoyable than ORT!

Your DD must be doing well to read this as part of the curriculum in P2/YR2? Is she classed as "free reading"?

at school she is on ORT level 6 but at home she reads books - she got Indie Kidd from the library and apparently they do it at school as part of the curriculum

she does find some words tricky - i get her to write them down which seems to help her remember them

tnaks for info

Sounds like your DD's school is similar to mine. She's on ORT 9 but I have given up worrying about it to be honest, as long as dd enjoys reading and will read for pleasure that's all I care about. Sounds like your DD is doing marvelously well to me
