Ok so my 4 year old will have better handwriting that me but does anyone know of a website with pages to download for practicing 'proper' handwriting (and when did it stop being called 'copper plate'?).

But I didn't think four year olds did cursive writing??

That is fab! Many thanks.

My 4 yr old does. Apparently that is the new way - they teach cursive from the outset rather than teaching printing and then joining up later on. My ds can print his letters but is now having to add hooks and tails. At least he seems to pay attention in class and is vg at dictating to me how it should be done, but a bit reluctant to actually demonstrate!

Oh they do at this school. I don't remember being taught how to write like this (but then, this was in the 1970s).

Interesting. At ds's school they do printed letters, but with joining tails. Guess the joining up will come later then.

DS's school does cursive from day 1 as well - I have needed to learn it!
